
Velebit, the magical place between Lika and Adriatic sea is a huge stone wall between the mainland and the Adriatic Sea. Hence, it is full of networks of rough sinkholes, reefs, valleys, caves and peaks that conquer with their biodiversity and beauty. It is the largest, although not the highest mountain range in Croatia and separates the Adriatic sea from Lika.
There are two national parks on Velebit between Lika and Adriatic sea, Paklenica and Northern Velebit. The World Network of Biosphere Reserves included them as part of reserve. In addition, it is rich in caves, the most famous of which are the Cerovac Caves near Gračac and the Paklenica Caves near Starigrad. Numerous hiking trails pass through the park. The most famous is the Premužić trail. Furthermore, it was built in 1933 according to the project of Ante Premužić, after which it was named.



Experience magical Velebit between Adriatic sea and Lika
The mountain peaks of Velebit offer a beautiful view of the Adriatic Sea and islands. In the park it is possible to go rafting (on the river Zrmanja), mountaineering, sport fishing and hiking. Untouched parts of nature in National parks Northern Velebit and Paklenica are the ideal places where you can experience a Mediterranean and the Adriatic sea from a different angle.


Moreover, bicycle paths from the town of Senj to Velebit lead along the western Velebit slope. Velebit faces the Adriatic sea with views of the Kvarner Bay and islands. Some of the sights you can visit are Senj and Nehaj Fortress. Hence, you can see the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In Polje you can see the newly opened forestry museum. It is the only one in Croatia, “Krasnarski Park” in Glavas with planted indigenous plant species, landscaped paths and benches.
