If you want to enjoy nature, horses or simply to drink coffe and walk the dog go to the hippodrome, the green oases in Zagreb. The hippodrome is loceted in the center of Zagreb and is one of the green oases of the city. It was built from 1947 to 1950 and is based on the Longchamp Racecourse in Paris designed to unite all branches of equestrian sport.
Things to do at Hippodrome, the Green Oases
You can try riding in a few equestrian clubs. Also, you can walk the kids on ponies or just enjoy the sun and the greenery that surrounds you. Take a part in gallop races or show jumping and dressage tournaments or just have a coffee and relax. In recent years, the Zagreb Hippodrome has also hosted World Cup competitions in show jumping in 2014. It put Zagreb on the world map of equestrian sports.
Equestrian clubs where you can learn to ride in hippodrome are Konjički klub Zagreb, Konjički klub Batida, Konjički klub Edek, Konjički klub Konjičko društvo Zagreb and Konjički klub Pony Express. A few years ago, the Croatian Equestrian Federation launched its own system of education. It focused on all branches of equestrian sport and the education of coaches and leaders of riding schools; part of the classes are also held at the hippodrome.
Some famous events and races you can watch: are June tournament championship of the city of Zagreb, Croata Cup, Winter Cup, Summer Cup. There are also Batida Dressage Cup and Gallop races of the city of Zagreb.
