Istria is producing some of the top Croatian wines and wine roads. Most famous wine is Istrian Malvasia,. Others are Chardonnay, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Trebianno Toscano, Zlahtina, Red Merlot, Teran, Cabernet Sauvignon, Refosk, Borgonja, Cabernet Franc. Furthermore, a little of Hrvatica, Barbera, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. is always great to taste. The most famous winemakers of Istria whose wines you must try are Kozlović Vina, Kabola Vina, Benvenuti Vina, Vinarija Giorgia Claia, Matošević Vina.

Famous Wine Roads of Istria

Istria is full of wine roads that stretch throughout the region. All you need to do is choose a wine cellar on the wine road, check their working hours and go. The arrival at each winemaker’s wine cellar leads through beautiful landscapes. Be sure to taste wines made from the domestic varieties Muškat Momjanski, Malvazija Istarska (Malvasia Istriana) and Teran.

Some wine events which you can attend: Wine Cellar Escape, Istria wine & walk. Also, there is: The festival of Grapes and Festival of Istrian Malvazia. Lastly, the important dates are: Open Cellar day, Martinje St Martins day, Momjan Muscat and Truffle Days.

On the “Open Day”, guests can peek into modern wineries, decorated tasting rooms and family estates where visitors are welcomed by friendly hosts. It is an opportunity for tasting and pleasant wine conversations with the hosts. But also you can purchase of top quality bottles. Top Istrian wines are achievements from the period of the last fifteen years of intensive development of winemaking and viticulture in Istria. You will not be disappointed when you see the wine roads and taste Istrian wine.
